TOCA 2 and machine lockups

Bought TOCA 2 today and was really pleased with it  - except that it
causes my machine to lock after about 3 minutes of racing, also the
ghost car is completely white and not transparrent.
I am running a K6 2 350 with a Vodoo2 card ( with the latest reference
drivers ) and DirectX 6.1, soundcard ia an SB Live.
Colin McRae rally runs fine which I beleive uses the same graphics
engine so I presume its not a driver issue.

Anyone had similar problems or have any solutions?
