Great race, thanks to all who were there, and congratulations to Josh B. for
winning.

Question for everybody:  I didn't think it was such a bad deal leaving the
pace car on the track.  If we can agree that this is okay then Eldred can
race from the start next time, he won't have to stop to move the pace car.
What does everybody else think?

It probably depends on the track.  If it was on the left at Silverstone for
example, that's NOT a good thing.  But, the side that it would be on would
depend on how many drivers we had, I guess.  Odd number, it would be on one
side, even number, on the other.

BTW did you or anyone else get a lot of strange announcer messages about
halfway through the race?  I started getting a string of messages about who
was ahead and behind, all contradictory, and this went on continuously for
almost a whole lap.

I've noticed that from time to time...it's like the server caches the
pit messages and then dumps them out in a big bunch.  So you sometimes get
several laps one right after the other...

It's fine with me regardless of which lane it's on.

Practice and qualifying went well yesterday. .2 seperated Neil and I in both
I believe. I slipped away from the computer during chat before the race
started to wash a contact lense that was bothering me, and when I came back,
you guys were on the grid. In my panick though, I had no idea where you
were. I thought the race had started so I jumped in my car, didn't see Neil
in front of me (forgot I was on pole), mirrors were off so I didn't notice
anyone behind me, and then I took off like an idiot.

8 -(

I did hear engines but I thought they were either coming up behind me or off
ahead in the distance.

I was *really* looking forward to this race all week too. If anyone wants
to run it again later today, let me know and I'll try and host with my 256k
up cable connection. If not, then I'll see you guys at Austria. :-)

I saw you. I was a little behind at that point, and I couldn't figure
out what you were doing moving to the left with the stalled car
sitting there. Impressive hit!

On the next lap, the stalled car was almost blocking the track,
barely enough room to pass across it's bow on the right, but the time
after that, it was sitting well off to the side. I wonder how that
happened? Did you come by and hit it again? <LOL!>

Ah well, I must have double-tapped the F6 key to turn damage off,
cause one of my off-track excursions damaged my suspension and put me
out. So you're not the only one to make a mistake, David.

I have the pit messages turned off: I get annoyed when the pit
manager tells me to turn around when I am *trying* to turn around,
thank you very much! <g> All I get is the odd burst of static over
the speakers, like someone clicking a microphone on and off. Much
calmer.

I had that happen in the last race I was in - Brazil, I think.  It was correct,
but annoying as hell...

Pushed would be more like it...I gently nudged up to the stricken Toyota
and shoved it over to the wall, it was the least I could do since I put it
there in the first place.

I wondered what he was doing.  I didn't see the lights when I first hit
the track and suddenly the Red car up front just took off!  Then the lights
started coming on... I almost went with him.   Using the launch control I
was able to pass the other fast guys before turn 1 and then I courteously
spun out of the way to let them back by.

Hi Eldred:

I've been unable to participate in recent RASF1 events.  I really
like Austria.

It's been a while since I raced there, but I remember my best is
1:12.  Are you still 5 or 10 seconds off the pace?  If so, I'll wait
for you to push the server car off the track like I did at Indy after
I loose contact with the good drivers, which should be about a half a
lap.  Then we can have our own race.

Anybody have setups for Austria?  Remove the "_death_to..." part
of my return address if you want to share them.

                                                              Larry
