Yahoo add, btw for PS2 game,
A quote from the page...
Senior producer Manabu Akita speaks quite forwardly, even in Japanese: His
intention is to introduce the most realistic racing game available,
period...

That game is looking very promising (not to mention graphically
beautiful). Check out the videos they have comparing the handling of
real car and their modelled car side-by-side. Looks like it will have
better physics than Gran Turismo, in any case.

What does it take to beat "gran turismo?

I mean hell I raced Motocross, and even though MX unleashed is a pretty dam
fun game, i cannot say that it is a simulation, no more than G-T is...  last
I knew cars (yes we have a wheel for the playstation too) have infinite
thottle positions, not ON-OFF!  LOL least my car does...  same with the
steering...  But I digress.  maybe the next next generation of set-tops will
be usable, far cry from what they have now to be sure, would have to be
developed...  to me the Set tops are too worried about Tunes & fluff, and
why not, it isnt like the wheel has decent control of the games, let alone
the "joypad" and I guarantee ya, my 10yo kid hates "sims"...   but wants all
5 of the games at christmas that are in the top 5, that is the target is it
not?

all in good fun thou.

I just love these guys that trash Gran Turismo then in the next sentence
admit they havent tried it with a wheel and pedals.

I Agree, its a completely different (and great IMO) game with a wheel
and pedals.  The only thing that puts me off GT is that its not a
proper "racing" game, it's more of a driving and tuning game.  Good
though.

All the best,
Ash

You're an ***? Here's hoping English is your second language. :p

Anyway, I'm not sure what your point is.

Is it "Sims can't run on consoles"? A console is just a computer in
applicance form. There's nothing magical about it that precludes
simulators from running on it. Richard Burns Rally is just as ***
on PC or console.

Is it "Console wheels suck"? You do realize that the best consumer
wheel on the market right now (Logitech Driving Force Pro) is for the
Playstation, right?

Is it "Consoles are only played by 10 year olds"? Your demographics
info is about 20 years out of date, if it was ever accurate.

I don't play Gran Turismo, so I can't comment on it's simulation
accuracy. I dont even have a PS2, so I haven't been following Enthusia
closely -- but the few impressions I've read have all been positive.
Check out this video, which demos the physics:

Check out the real vs. virtual Miatas:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/;Doesn't appear to
have a***pit view, but the car behavior does look good.  The interviews at
that site are interesting as well.

The one with Mazda's Hiroshi Ito in particular; his comment on the sounds.
"The normal exhaust sounds on the FC (RX-7) comes out right, and the sound
on the 787B was also pretty close to the real thing. Especially the sounds
at a high rpm are identical. "  If you've ever heard a 787B, THAT should
blow the speakers out of your TV in no time... ;-)

The videos look fantastic. To be honest if this was the latest video of
rFactor or First-Racing's work in progress RAS would be wetting itself. How
the driving model will translate to feel a big question along with the AI
and online options. So far these are all areas that the PC sims remain in
command. We shall see. Looks like a sserious attempt at modelling the
physics though rather than just the normal most realistic experience hot
air...

Eric Tetz enlightened us with:

LOL,

Aren't you kind...
So, grade the content on typo's, fine Mr Tetz...  this is usenet, not
english 101.  10yo means 10 Year Old, kinda (oops should be Kind Of) like
ROFLMAO means, oh wait, nevermind your the expert here...

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit, least you are a fair spelling
checker...

To you and Fredrickson,

Do either of you read what it typed?  Proof in your replies?  Well, it
says no, because although I didnt specify which wheel we had, but I said I
had one, which (yeah it would be a stretch for you) implied we have used it,
but you knew that you just decided to bash my typing...

I said my 10 year old loves the arcade game, albeit in a round about
way, after all my point was that I doubt that a "great sim" would be
produced nor seem like it, in a playstation or other set-top box...

I do not like arcade, I was clear on that one.  Sue me again...

Does the console have the ability to do a sim?  I guess that all depends on
you two's idea of sim is, and apparently my opinion comes under scrutiney,
after all it is *MY OPINION*,  but I digress...
Your opinion was not degraded by my statements, however I guess if your view
was matching Yahoo's then you somehow felt that you have a right to attack
me, based on your opinion.  Attack away, I love it.

I think many here at (rec.auto.simulators) would probably concur since
neither seem to have***pit view, and since it is my opinion, Im not going
to apologise for my view, I find it hard to compare the riding on the hood
of the game's car, or behind it 10-15ft  the air behind it (by the way ft =
feet, I could have used ` instead if that would be easier for you?).

I drive *sims* the usuall way in the behind the wheel***pit mode, like I
do everyday in real life driving to work-, so sue me, now that I envy your
ability to ride on outside of the car on your way to your baby-sitters
house...

nice links...

I do believe they read what you wrote.  They have have misunderstood
what you wrote, because neither speak pidgin english.  If you're going
to complain about anothers reading comprehension, you need to write in
concise, proper english.  Get it?

Who said anything about typos? I was talking about the lack of
*coherency*.

"you should see this game I saw It sucks... my brother Likes it hes 10
ROLFM!!! he doesnt even drive yet anyway this game is for PS2"

Again, what the hell is that? I can tell you're pissed at me, but
beyond that it's just disjointed babbling.

Are you saying simulations *can't* be done on a console?

I prefer the***pit view myself, but plenty of arcade games have
***pit views. What distinguishes an arcade game from a sim is physics.

You are funny though because you quote me but apparently cant even cut n

No, I was trying to post gibberish like yours. I got close enough for
you to recognize it as your own, but I didn't completely nailed it. The
grammar, punctuation, and capitalization are all wrong, but it still
makes sense. :(

Let me try again:

"ROLFMAPLO!!! i wus playing this game, but you new That and my bro was
Fluff&stuff over the console, but hes 10yo so PS2 has one anyway....
but I digress. so maybe you 'Yahoo' the answer and all that, but LOL, I
digress,"
