From the Adrenaline Vault:

"GT Interactive has confirmed with the Adrenaline Vault that the nostalgic
*** racing simulation Trans Am 68-72 has made a pit stop. Although no
reason was given for the cancellation of the agreement with the game's
former developer, Engineering Animations, which has been developing the
title since 1997, a company representative did state GT is searching for a
new development team. "We have a high goal for this simulation: for it to be
the best racing simulation ever," the representative said, reiterating the
company's dedication to the product.

Should the project be reassigned, the development process will re-launch
with a clean slate and none of the technology from Engineering Animations.
It is possible Engineering Animations could still release the title under a
different name, though they were not available prior to the publication of
this story. The company, traditionally a producer of visualization solutions
for manufacturing corporations does high-end aircraft and car crash
simulations, is developing the racing adventure Dukes of Hazzard for
Southpeak Interactive."

Just great instead of a 60's Trans Am sim we get The Dukes of Freakin'
Hazzard!

I dunno...a realistic simulation of yank tanks on dirt sounds like a Good
Thing to me!
