NFS 3 - Please help

by Cib » Thu, 15 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi all,

I just bought nfs3 and want to race but as soon as I try and race it
loads the game and I can see the little bar going across the bottom
showing its loading but as soon as its done my computer hangs and if I
hit the esc key or the space bar it reboots my computer... its driving
me crazy because the demo worked very nicely on my machine which is

p2-266
12 meg monster 2
64 megs ram

Anyone know what could be wrong I am dying to try this game and if it
won't work I am screwed because I can't return it.

Thanks so much,
Cyriel

DirectX 6 or DirectX 6.1 installed? NFS3 doesnt like setups without
that installed.

Also.. make sure you have the latest Drivers for your Voodoo whether
they be the reference ones from 3dfx.com or the Diamond ones..

Re-installing DirectX (5.0 in my case) every now and then does miracles. I
reinstall it a few times a month. I also reinstall my 3Dfx drivers after
that. Every time (99%!)I get a new demo and it doesn't work (or an other
game suddenly gives me probs) reinstalling does the job. Try it. I got a V2
12 Mb, Celeron 266 OC to 333 and 64 Ram. Don't install DirectX6 until a game
really needs it. Never change a winning team (system), is my opinion...

I find it strange because I am not sure if it has to do with my 3d
card or not because it still has the same error in software render
mode.

Try turning off 3D audio. I (and another person on the net) had to turn
off the d3d audio . He set his for dobly, I set mine to stereo.

Welcoming to poxy buggy software.
