INDYCAR Full Races

by KOLEGA Tom » Sat, 17 Sep 1994 10:34:56

I have started a full season of 100% race....in IndyCar, and have noticed
something very alarming, on most of the circuits, the drivers come back
to you, even with the driver setting on 105% they still do.

If you play your cards right, get ahead of the first placed person, then
do about 5 laps full on to get a big lead, then turn down turbo, and
you still manage to pull away at about 0.5 - 1 sec a lap!!!

That way you get better mileage and when you do pull in the pits usually
you can do it without being overtaken!!!

So on tracks like Cleveland where i can't even get in the top 10 I
just bide my time and slowly pass car by car, then take the lead and go
for it....

Does anybody else notice this!!!

Cheers
Tommy

I'm sorry, but I can't understand what you mean by 'come back to you'.
Can you repost the point with different phrasing please.

thanks,

Stewart.

Why don't you try 110% then?  The point of the opponent percentage is to allow
you to adjust the game to your liking and driving ability.  I guarantee that if
you set the opponent percentage high enough you won't pass any other drivers.

You can adjust the BLAP value in the track.txt file to adjust the qualifying
times in relation to the race speeds.  It takes a lot of experimenting to
get good BLAP values to match up qualifying and racing.

Perhaps he refers to the fact that opponent cars 'stall' on the
apex of corners at Cleveland, so that if one follows behind them
        one smacks into their butts.

Is it just my computer or has anyone else noticed this? I was
able to move from last position (13th of 13 cars) into 1st in
a 25% length race by simply steering wide on corners and gliding past
other cars which seem to suddenly slow dramatically (impossibly)
right at the apex, after which they slingshot forward with
impossible acceleration for a short distance.

This is very amusing to watch in playback from the blimp camera.
The normal motion of the human car highlights the bizarre behaviour
        of the AI cars.

Also at this track I saw background portions of track being displayed
over top of my car during vcr playback on camera TV1.

Something is very wrong with this track. I'm afraid that an earlier
writer's contention that the 7-Track Pack was not tested before
release must be said to be true, on the evidence. (The green flag
for start of Detroit race comes on the far side of the track, long
        before the start/finish straight).

Papyrus should really get cracking and give us a patch for these
track problems!!! Especially since the add-on packs cost nearly as
        much as the original game!!
