Q: N3/NL and Laptop PCs

by Yujon3 » Mon, 27 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I've been thinking about a PC option and gave some attention
to the laptop PCs (AKA "notebooks")...

While I understand that laptops are basically intended for
mobile Internet access and Office software applications, some
of the newer models have included at least 8 Megs of video
RAM, a sound card, and even fairly large (6 Gig) hard drives.
One model is the Compaq Presario N1292; the other is an HP,
the Pavilion 3150C.

How would N3 or NL work with a laptop?  Would the perfor-
mance be comparable with a minimum-level desktop or should
I skip the laptop option all together?  With the HP model
using a mobile Celeron chip, should I opt for an HP which
uses something faster (PIII)?

Thanks ahead of time for you assistance,

If you don't need a laptop for the purpose a laptop was invented, don't buy
one.

You can get a much nicer desktop computer for the same $$$ and won't have to
worry about cajoling the weird stuff inside the laptop into running games.
Laptops are also pretty hard to upgrade...
