GPL a little help needed

by sudes » Mon, 15 Jan 2001 01:00:36

Hi
I'm getting a friend hooked on GPL (does that make me a pimp?)
But i'm having a small problem with his setup.
He has;
athlon 500
diamond viperII (savage 2K)
128 Mb of mem
as you can see, a pretty good spec, and the game looks very good, using the
D3D patch and all the extra goodies.
However his mirrors look as if the image has been cut up into vertical
strips and these strips have been misaligned somehow.
He has all the latest drivers etc
anybody have any idea?
i tried every setting in the core ini off and on and i'm stumped, any other
S3 savage 2K users out there?

Easy resolved

When driving, press F10

Well, I think the majority of people who buy GPL buy it because it is a
simulator and not an arcade game and part of the simulation is seeing things
the way Clark, Hill, Surtees etc. saw them.

One good thing about Crammonds sims is that there is only a***pit driving
view.  I suppose you could use the chase but there is no telemetry.

I had the Viper II and gave up on trying to get the mirrors to work  (athlon
650, 128 mem)  So I got an Geforce II and I works now.  It is that ***
card.

I don't wanna sound rude or anything, but hasn't it been beat to death yet that
some people (myself included) just prefer the Arcade camera view?  I get really
tired of reading comments like yours that there should only be the***pit view
in a game. Some people just don't like the***pit.  Deal with it.

Okay, that DID come off as sounding a little rude.  Sorry.

Yes, this topic has been beat to death, revived and beat to death again,
shot, burned and disolved in acid.  Some people just don't like the chase
view.  Deal with it.

I think what Chris meant is that it's not very usefull to respond to someone
having a problem with the mirrors with a statement like "switch to a view
that doesn't use the mirrors". -Winding up F10-view drivers was just an
aftertouch. <g>

Me, I don't care either way. Although I personally prefer***pit view and
do see some of the arguments for having a forced***pit view _option_
(please note the emphasis), I don't have any real problem with F10-view
drivers. Horses for courses and all that. I do believe a simulation without
a***pit view is not worth the title, but isn't doesn't have to be the only
view.

Though this won't help I have a Savage 4 and it works perfectly with GPL
apart from the fact that it takes ages to go from screen to screen so by the
time you get to the grid the race has already started!  Thanfully the Voodoo
2 doesn't have this problem!

Got that right, GPL is just like a drug ain't it? Some nights it makes you feel
real good. Other nights you just want to go jump off a bridge. :)
