Nine Days in Summer

Well I finally broke down and installed a Direct TV system so I could
recieve Speedvision and one of the first things I see is "Nine Days in
Summer". Oh my gawd!!!! I'll never be able to watch "Grand Prix" with a
straight face again.

Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby!

Yup, it was definitely cool - I couldn't walk away from it. Funny you
mentioned "Grand Prix"   I kept thinkin' Bruckheimer must have been
working the cameras for that show 'cause a lot of the race footage was
in the same style <G>. Very nicely done and very informative

~I guess now I'll stop thinking it odd when Jim Clark starts every
race in GPL on the pole -- it's accurate....

There's life before Speedvision (yawn), then there's life after Speedvision
(woohoo!). I subscribed at about the end of last year's racing season and just
couldn't believe what I'd been missing.

Then you will be alarmed to discover that NASCAR is
rumored to be attempting to buy Speedvision.  The
purpose of the purchase is unknown at this time but
speculation is that Speedvision will be turned into a
combination of 'NASCAR Classic' and the 'NASCAR
Home Shopping Network'.

This comes by way of this week's Autoweek.

I'm sorry<g>, it's been discussed here so much, I just assumed everyone knew
what it was about.

"Nine Days in Summer" is a documentry film put together by the Ford Motor
Company which follows Team Lotus and the development of the Ford Cosworth
engine during the 1967 Grand Prix season. It is obviously biased towards
Ford and Lotus but the film is a fascinating look at the "GPL" era.

DangNabbit! George!!  I do watch the Nascar shows on Speedvison,
but I don't have ESPN2 because allllll they seem to be is Nascar's
private network.  VARIETY!  VARIETY!
If not for Speedvision, I'd never have seen the touring car racing
that is going on all over the globe.(and emulated with the excellant N99
patch for the TPTCC!)[Soon N3]

FINALLY talked to someone at my cable company that knew what they were
talking about and found that I could get Digital Cable for only $18 a month
more than standard cable!!! Comes with ESPN2 and Speedvision and bunch of
irrelevant channels.  Comes with 30 channels of DMX, too.  The *** is - I
gotta wait till Feb 26th for install!!! DOH!  Well, at least I'll have it
then.
Now, I'm moving to Alabama in July or August and I'll be stuck with
their shitty cable down there (so far NO Digital Cable, NO Speedvision,
Discover Channel shares time with Pay-per-View, NO History channel!!!).
DirecDUO (Satellite TV and Satellite Internet) only allows 2 receivers.
boooooo.

Gunner
(who will have to buy stock in 3M to buy my tapes once Speedvision's
installed)

What part of Alabama are you moving to?  When I lived in Birmingham, we
certainly had ESPN2, and the War-is-Kewl--oop!--History Channel.  Same for
Huntsville.
