They aren't similar at all. I have no problem with widescreen movies. I
have a problem with letterbox games. I want my screen real estate used more
effectively than that.

The first time we saw LOTR:TFOTR, we were just about the last people in
the theatre...I had to go back a week later to re-view the movie...we sat
so close to the front and side that any time there was fast action, we'd
go....
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
:) the funny thing about widescreen movies...is us SMART Americans think
we are MISSING part of the picture(due to the black borders)...rather than
actually SEEING the whole thing..
Same thing with GPL, there isn't much more picture under those bars is
there?

There is nothing worse than buying a cheap "pan and scan" version of a DVD,
rather than the full widescreen version. I made this mistake a few times on
Amazon and it is really irritating to try to watch.

Yes, but the problem is I can neither buy one, nor subscribe because I don't
live in the UK. They won't let me. I tried, honest. ;-)

I agree, we're backward in that respect. We don't even have digital cable
yet!!
The point is, their 4:3 SBK broadcast is not even fullscreen on a 4:3
TV!! -You have to agree that pretty much defeats any purpose.
