I see many people refer to Daytona when speaking of N2.  Where do I go to
get it??  Is it in the new track pack?
Thanks for any help.

>Check with Jeff Gordon.. if theres a cheat,  he will know about it!!

good call!!

I tried what you said, and it works.  But:

so I could go at least 220 on the back stretch.
Also, about halfway through the turns, my car pulls hard right, into the
wall for no apparent reason.

Can someone please explain these problems to me, and how to fix them?
Thanks.

Also- with the restrictor plates on, I have to run the opponents at 117% to
have a competitive race (this way, if I start 39th, it takes the whole race
to get to the front!).  But, during qualifying, they run 41.5 second times.
How can I make them run the same times I do (47.8 in the draft, 48.5 alone).
Thanks again.

  Hi Damon and welcome to the group;

I'm gonna *** here but I hope you don't take it personally.  It is
more a question for the newsgroup as a whole..not intended to put you
down...

The subject of removing restrictor plates in N2 has always intrigued
me...What is the allure?  You get about what? 10 more mph?  Big Deal.  and
you spend your time creating setups to accomodate this change when others
are tweeking their hearts out to get the most out of their restricted cars.
Since Nascar at Tally and Daytona(copyright Sega) use restrictor plates then
we should be also....Otherwise I just might as well import one of the open
wheel wonders from ICR2 and hit 240mph.  the game is nascar, the rules are
nascar, not Northwest Modifieds.   What do we change next?   is the35mph pit
lane speed too slow at Bristol????  Kick it up to 150!  Tired of turning
left all the time...Hell lets race backwards!   The point is...lots of
things can be changed, and some are fun to do...but when it comes down to
bragging about speed at Tally...I don't pay any attention to those 210+
fellas who got that speed just by editing a .txt file.  Show me times that
restricted engines produce and then I'll sit up and take notice.

Check with Jeff Gordon.. if theres a cheat,  he will know about it!!

Doh!  I can see flames being typed already ;)

Seriously...  you need to edit the taladega.txt with edit or notepad.
find the line that starts with "spdwy" I believe.  Then change the first
number from 1 to 0.  You will also want to change the "RELS" section of
that track.txt so that you can modify the AI for the competitor cars.
This value equals the relative strength of the AI cars at that track.
IE..  smaller numbers make them slower, larger numbers make them faster.
"BLAP" is the setting for qualifying that you will want to modify as
well.  The value is in thousandths of a second. so a value such as 25150
is equal to 25.150 seconds.  I do not believe that the BGN expansion
pack altered any of the above... but I could be wrong.

There use to be a "secret site" - one of the worst kept secrets Ive know
about.  But anyway... the last I knew they took it down.  It had both a
day and night daytona.  It was simply a reworked Talladega I believe.
Changed some coloring, logos, textures, etc.  Was cool just seeing
Daytona written on the fence, flag stand, etc =)

The BGN Track pack does add California and Texas... both very excellent
tracks to run.  If you havent gotten the BGN pack yet.... go get it!!
Its worth the money!!

As I wrote in my previous post... try editing BLAP to bring their
qualifying times down to yours.  As far as the pulling right.... I have
no idea.  Ive never run without the restrictor plates... so I cant
comment on the top speeds either.. sorry.

I hope someone else can answer those questions.

The number to change in taladega.txt is BLAP.  This number (very loosely
defined) is the "Best Lap" for the AI.  However, it is tied to RELS.
The higher the RELS the "slower" you need to make the BLAP.

Gee..I have the converted N1 tracks for my ICR2 & I get around 256 at
Tally.  Think I'd like to race against you out there ;^)  Seriously
though, I think you are right.  The only time to start messing with
restrictor plates is when you've started getting bored & feel you need
a new challenge.  We buy sims for the reality factor, we *** to the
sky if certain features are not present, & then make changes to it
ourselves that in no way mirror the way things are done.  If you want
reality, keep it real!!

There is a FAQ for the track.txt files for ICR2 and N1 in the Help pages
at my AutoSim site http://www.teleport.com/~mcarver/autosim.htm  Most of
this info will translate to NASCAR2.

For additional information Jon Guest has some N2 specific at
http://www.mercury.force9.co.uk/nascar2/seasons.htm
