ICR2 frame rate

At present i've got a 486/66, and the frame rate in svga is crap. I'm
thinking of looking into upgrading my puter to a high end pentium (i
know this might be out with this group, but...) could anyone tell me
if apart from mother board and proccessor, i might need anything else
to upgrade my present machine.

You will need a good graphics card. Definetely PCI bus. Depending on
how much money you are willing to spend... The Matrox Millenium is
probably the best out today, but it's $$$$. A good cheap DOS card
is the hercules stingray. I have a ATI Mach64 and it's doing fine
for ICR2 but according to benchamrks it's not the fastest one around.

One VERY important thing: Be sure to get a motherbaord with pipeline
burst Cache. I upgraded to pipeline burst as my only change (same
CPU, and accessories), and ICR2 framerate jumped up over 20%!

BTW, I run a P133 (actually a overclocked P120), ASUS P55TP4N MB w/
512Kb pipeline burst cache, and the ATI Mach64 videocard. I have all
details on in SVGA and it runs nice and smooth.

How come it's crap?

What do you regard as crap?

I use my dads 486/66 and SVGA ICR2 is fine, much better than I thought it could be.
I turn off grass texture and object textures and the frame rate is brilliant.

Turn off th auto graphics functions they are a waste of time.

Well, you know that if you buy a peice of ***car, you're going to get a peice of
***air-conditioner to boot. Don't blame the software company because your
hardware can't handle it.
