GPL-N*99* converter

GPL-N*99* converter

I didn't think of this till just now.  I've been running the N99 tracks
from the old converter.  Louden, WGI, can't think of the others... With
my K6-2/350 in GPL I have to use 648X480 with 50% of the graphics off
and the slider about 1/4 up.  With GPL in the N99 tracks, I have ALL the
graphics turned on at 800X600, 16 sounds, and the slider 3/4 up.  (I'll
be testing the slider at 100% soon).

The Graphics aren't that bad in N99. In fact, with a little tweaking
they could look downright fantastic.  Since that works I can only
assume(?) that we could run these graphics with a Sim that has even
better physics then GPL, or at least calculates more variables at
500/second rather then GPLs 288/second.  And still be able to run the
Sim on relatively slow machines.

just a thought,
Mike

Yep Mike, run the 'new' tracks -from the new convertor- at 1024x768
(overkill), and slider to full right.
When I try this at Zandvoort or S.stone, for instance, it shocks like
hell.
But object text. are off, only text. in mirrors are cars; mirror
update freq.=3

Well, the question seems to be: Do we want top-notch graphics, where
the cpu is running hot, just to feed the gfx-card all the time, or do
we want even better physics, where the cpu is working just as hard but
for a 'higher' purpose... :p
But how relevant will this question be, when we'll be having 2ghz
cpu's and gfx-cards which can produce more texels/sec than B.Gates
makes cents/year..
There's only_so_much you can draw on your monitor screen.(?!)

Makes me wonder tho....what kind of cpu does it take to have a fully
functional Holodeck placed in the cellar...
"Computer!"
"beeplebeep"
"Resume GPL5 program from where we left yesterday, please"
"Beeplebeep, that would be just before the fatal impact coming out of
Curva Granda... are you sure Sir?"
"Just restart the damn program coming out of Parabolica...smartass
comp..."
"Confirmed....bleeplebeep"
