Well, not everything was texture mapped in Nascar Racing, and Indycar 2 was
out well after GP2.

Er no

ICR2 was released over 6 months before GP2.

Although ICR2 was released AFTER GP2 was DUE to be released :-)

Well, maybe ICR2 had a different release date in Europe and the USA, and
probably the same for GP2 (it would certainly fit with the current release
policies of the two companies).  Anyway, the point I was making is that
Geoff Crammond has always been known as a top notch 3d programmer.  Whereas
some people seemed to think he'd never done a 3d game before!

You're probably right, although the release date for ICR2 in europe may have
been later, since the same thing has happened with all subsequent Papy
games.  Also GP2 was probably released ealier in europe than in the US.  I
just seem to remember GP2 being earlier, but both CD's are copyright 1995 so
you are probably right.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that Geoff Crammond is well known
for being an excellent 3d programmer.

Speaking of Stunt Car Racer, I read in an interview quite some time ago
that Goeff was perhaps interested in making a new version of that
classic game. Of course he'll have to finish GP3 first.
I used to play SCR all the time on my old Atari ST, but I wonder, was
there ever a VGA version made for PC? I've seen some screenshots of a
monochromatic PC version but never something with more than 16 colors.
Was duch a version ever made?

If you're feeling slightly ***, you candownload the game and an appropiate
emulator to run it on your PC
