Oh, here's a copy of an old post. Makes good reading:

Anyone have real numbers? I think it would be interesting to see who
posts the most, etc.

Some companies exist that sell archives of newsgroups on CD-Rom. I remember
quite a few back when I was searching for an archive on some newsgroup I
lurk on, but it was more expensive than what I wanted to pay for. Anybody
know of some that still exist today? With the phenomenal Usenet boost around
1998 I doubt many could continue to do such a thing.
Unfortunately, Deja only brings to you the possibility to send and view
Usenet past and present message. They don't do anything more. In fact,
they're completely changing their philosophy. If you go to Deja.com, you
will see that newsgroup research is now very small compared to everything
else they (try to) do. Another Internet community help transformed into
pure commercialism :(

Why do you have a reverse smiley face at the end there? Are against
commercialism? I bet you never paid Deja.com for anything, given your modus
operandi.
Don't ya just hate it when companies charge for internet services and racing
simulators?
Rick
No regrets, no embarrassment <---------- can't touch this.

Actually it's a smile but the smiley has two pinch <g>
Your the Derek Smart of rec.autos.simulators.
Im sure your a pro-capitalism person who would want sites like Yahoo.com to
drop their web directory in favor of having the Internet transformed into a
public place for commercialism. At least you'll be able to sell everything
that's in your bunker using the web.
