Same thing happened to me...

I copied all the files into the appropriate
/players/doktorb/setups/(trackname)/
.. but they never showed the first time I went to play..

Close GPL, and re-open it. They DID appear the second time, fortunately.
(Don't know why this is).

Also, make sure you have the car selected as the setup file you are trying
to load:
ie: If you are driving a Ferrari, a Lotus Setup file will NOT be visisble..

I do not want to corrupt the files by doing something wrong, but
it seems there are some excellent ones from Allison Hines site by both
she and Doug Arno ----------- And I would like to take advantage of
their background in this sim at this point, and do minor tweaking from
there.

happened to me too but i looked around and found the setups that came
with the game were located in Sierra\GPL\players\Mike_Lewis\setups
and every track is listed in there. just copy to that track folder
not like nascar where they went in the same folder as the tracks.

Of course substitute your name for mine :)
