OT: WRC Drivers Are So Awesome To Watch on "Speed"

I didn't totally understand or appreciate rally racing until I started
watching WRC coverage on the Speedchannel a couple years back.  This year's
Speed (the new Speedchannel) coverage is fantastic (same-day coverage, in
the evening on all three days of the weekend...WOW)......and watching these
drivers behind the wheel is like watching ballerinas or symphonic
conductors.....absolutely no wasted movement at the wheel.  Truly, these
have to be the best race car drivers in the world.  Thank you Speed!

When I saw the subject I thought this was an exhortation to watch rallying
having taken ***! I find them amazing enough when I'm sober...

Whats the difference,  both take away your free time, your ability to
interact with others.  However there is ONE difference of note....Speed
users often lose weight,  Speedviewers often gain weight watching 24hour
events with a table full of munchies   ;)

Well, if they're not the best, then I'm trying to figure out who is (OK F1
guys I suppose).

Anyway, I agree with you.

Most road races I'll say "GEEZ! That was close!" once or twice per race, but
with WRC drivers I say that once or twice per driver per stage.

WRC has got a lot going for it:

For example the all tarmac rallies (Corsica, Spain & San Remo) are very
reminiscent of the Targa Florio, The Carrera Panamericana and The Milla
Miglia (which I miss).

You also get to see "real" cars (OK, race versions of real cars) that we
could buy and drive around. And more on that point, if you had the money and
really wanted to, you could get a Subaru WRX with the full Prodrive kit and
drive it around town. Try doing that with Schumacher's F1 2002.

They have a passenger seat. Although that does dilute it from the pure
esthetics and purposefulness of an F1 car, you could do the WRC version of
"taking someone along for a ride" as some people wish they could do with F1
cars. Imagine what it would be like to have a run at the Sisteron stage of
the Monte in Makinen's WRX with him driving at maximum attack (to use the
rally terminology).

Dont forget to see "Michelin - Rally Masters" either :)
Thats once per year, where they gather all the best drivers in the world
from various motorsports (MotoGP, WRC, Rally, GT-series etc)
to compete in various cars (everything from buggys to pure 4wd
turbomonsters) around tracks, where 2 cars compete side to side.
Digital Illusions (DICE) have made a good rally game based on this even btw,
and its called "Rally Masters".
The track they use are in there too (grand canaria)

Some F1-drivers last year was Fernando Alonso.. too bad i cannot remember
who won the even :(
Btw, Rossi was great with cars too :D maybe he could do some car-racing
also?.
