There appears to be a lot of interest in forming a West Coast late night MP
NASCAR league. Now's the chance for some of you West Coast insomniacs to
satisfy that need for speed. Here are the details:
1. West Coast "late night". Chat room will open at 11:05 PM Pacific, races
will start at 11:15 PM and will probably last about an hour and a half.
Races will most likely be held on Friday or Saturday night.
2. Winston Cup Race Schedule. Obviously, we can't race Daytona and the
Brickyard, but the rest of the schedule holds. Note that this requires the
Track Pack.
3. Full realism. We will race with Full Damage, Yellows and Pace lap on.
4. Longer races. Race length will be in the range of 30-50%. All races will
require at least one pit stop.
5. Clean racing. Pace lap and caution line incidents will not be tolerated.
You don't have to be the fastest on the block to race in this league, but
if you are off the pace, you will be expected to move over for the leaders.
There will be a formal protest and review procedure and drivers who violate
the rules will be subject to probation or suspension. In other words, this
is going to be just like the real WC races, and drivers who don't cut it
will be sent back down to the farm leagues.
6. Experience required. You must have a minimum skill level of 2 on Hawaii.
You must have experience on Hawaii at tracks other than Talladega and
Atlanta. You must have raced at least twice on one of the short tracks
(Martinsville, N. Wilkesboro or Richmond) and twice on one of the one-mile
ovals (Dover, Rockingham or Loudon). I have the results files and will
check your driver log to verify this. I am also considering a minimum
laps-per-incident rating to insure the quality of the drivers.
7. IROC championship. Most of you probably know that Hawaii allows for
forced setups in the race nomination screen, which we fondly refer to as
"IROC" races. About 2/3 of the way through the season, the top 12 drivers
will be invited to an IROC series. We will run a series of 5 races, one on
each type of course (Superspeedway, Speedway, One-Mile Oval, Short Track
and Road Course). At this point, I think the tracks will be Talladega,
Darlington, Dover, N.Wilkesboro and Sears Point.
If this sounds like something that interests you, drop me an email with
your name, email address, Hawaii handle and preferred race night.
