N4 tonite - what a mess

The Papy server was running a daytime Daytona. Cloudy and 65. Full field of
43 cars. I qualified 18th.  55 ping and 100 quality.

I was hit FOUR times before start finish. Rammed from behind 1/2 through the
pace lap that launched me off track. As I was spinning I was hit again.

Driving on the grass to get back to the track near the pits I was
rear-ended - in the grass!

I was spun on to the track and clobbered head on.

I never reached the green flag.

Pace laps are dangerous on-line, nevermind actual racing. There has to be a
better way...

Not if you race with good drivers. As stated in many posts just recently,
you must chose good servers with good drivers or you will get slammed
everytime! Practice races nightly in leagues are probably your best bet!!
Good Luck,,, Thom_j.

you can also race with beginners - just make sure that they are serious - and
not just there to play demolition derby.

serious beginners are amateur (obviously) but at least they're not ruining
races on purpose.

IF you want to race on public servers with 43 cars AND you want to complete
the pace lap, qualify in the first row.  There is no other way. :)  The
*better* way is to race league.

I will probably catch heck from the purists for saying this, but I have always
liked the DTR starts.  Computer controlled to the green flag.  Nobody lagging
back and charging.  No one swerving back and forth trying to "warm-up" the
tires.  Just keep your right foot on the floorboard and when the green flag
flies your off to the races.
JMHO...

It'd be a nice feature to add to the online races - computer
controlled pace lap :)

I dunno about that... I've been racing enough in N4 to know the AI is
pathetic in alot of situations! We might have just as many wrecks -
MORE if you compare against good human drivers...
