ICR2/CART blankscreen

Ok here's a new one for me.   I was running a 15 lap race at Bullrun.
converted from N2 for ICR2.  Using the V2k_icr2 fixes I have the 3d
version running in dma mode and running pretty smooth.  Mirrors are
clean etc.  I did about 11 laps...spun from the lead to 11th, got back
up to 5th and was challenging 4th when the screen just when black.
the game was still running as I soon heard my car crash into a wall.
I was running from dos7 from a dual boot,  everything looked fine for
about 45 minutes of testing etc and then blanko!
is this that screen refresh thing I've read about or just another
gremlin??

ps hit reset, rebooted and everything was fine...and this is an old
monitor. pre-win95

Yes Dave .I too havr has this happen a few times. I assume you are using a
Diamond stealth II as I am. I don't have a definite answer but I didn't
notice the problem until I installed the newest "release candidate" driver
from diamond.(this could just be coincedence) I too am runnung patched exe
and a batchfile to swap speedy file for clear mirrrors. I hope someone has
a fix as it is most irrritating to blackout in the middle of a race. BTW I
did switch back to the older certified driver (10-97 ? ) a few days ago and
I haven't had any problems but then I haven't played ICR2 longer than 45
minutes in that time either. Will do more testing this weekend.

Thanks for the reply.  Tried again this morning and it happened again.  Yes I
have a DSII and I got it just after the latest drivers were released so they
were the only ones I've used.   I do have the old drivers on the installation
cd tho.

:   Thanks for the reply.  Tried again this morning and it happened again.

If it always happens about 45 mins in, then it could be an overheating
problem.  Do you overclock?  Is this the only thing that does it?

nope everything is still pretty normal....A p200mmx and DSII all running at
66mhz thru an Asus mb.  At least one person did say it happens kinda regularly
to him.
One note that may or may not be related.
The opening moving and the replays showed plenty of flashing occuring
with some of the background images.  Trees and smoke etc would change color in
a very *** fashion.
I messed around with SSutil to change my refresh rate.  And the color flashing
went away.
I have completed one 15 lap race out of 3 tries but I did cut the Qual
session short after getting a pole time against 95% compition.   So I'm not
sure if the Screen refresh helped or if I had a shorter time actually running
the car or if I just got lucky and the problem is still there....time will
tell....but I have to put the Champ car in the trailer for now...gotta get
ready for a Touring car race....and I have this 4x4 that's itching for some
action too...I have virtual racers...why not virtual time??

Does it only go blank while racing?

One thing you can do is what I did to fix my similar problem (mine turned
out to be a bad jumper which overclocked my computer too fast).

This is what I did:

1) Start ICR2, but don't enter the game.  Just let the opening music and
racing action play.  Let it go until it locks up.  I used to start mine,
turn off the monitor and go to bed.  It would either be still going in the
morning or locked up.  If it was still going I left it run while at work.

2) If ICR2 crashes during the opening sequence, I got a memory dump to the
screen.  Not sure if yours will or not.

3) I then would start Quake and let it run in demo mode the same way.  I
found that Quake would run forever, but ICR2 still crashed/locked up.

If yours is heat related, then anything should go blank after such a long
time.
