The graphic is similar to the Nascar graphic but faster & smoother (SVGA)!
The sound is now really Indy Car sound !!!! I'm impressed
You can really feel the Car by driving, it makes much fun to play with
the car on the track, like sliding, drifting  WOOOOOW!! :))))
I like Nascar Racing, but i will love this game !!!!

: The graphic is similar to the Nascar graphic but faster & smoother (SVGA)!
[snip]

I did a little test and compared ICRII to NASCAR at Michigan.  I set
NASCAR up with the defaults that came with ICR2 (number of opponents,
drawn ahead, etc.).  I then played with the minimum and maximum frame
rates.  My tests showed that ICR2 was only 1 frame per second faster
than NASCAR.  (this was all done without loading the UniVBE driver as it
will not work with my ATI Mach64 WinTurbo card).

My conclusion is that the smoothness is more an illusion than a reality.
Since an Indy cars is faster, lighter and easier to control, I think it
just feels smoother.  Also, the faster one travels the more "in-between"
frames can be dropped.  Again another illusion to smoother.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm going to snatch up ICR2 as soon as my wife
releases the purse strings...  Good work Papyrus!

What is your hardware ?  This *may* make a difference when talking
about improvement. I only hope  it'll support the NV1...

I have since done a more careful analysis and still only find 1-2
frames per second difference between Nascar & ICRII in SVGA mode.
However, Rick from Papyrus posted elsewhere in this newsgroup that
the UniVBE driver does not work with my Video card.  He said his
machine has the same card and he gets the same results (or lack thereof)
and that Papyrus is looking into getting this fixed.

For the record my Machine is a Gateway2000 P5-90 PCI machine with 8meg
of memory.  I have heard conflicting stories as to whether more memory
would actually increase the frame rate.  Some say yes, some say this
only effects the length of the replay.

Also, I did discover that in VGA mode ICRII is faster than NASCAR
 (again without UniVBE).

IndyCar racing will always have higher frame rates than will Nascar
because the Indycars themselves are made up of fewer polygons.
Also, the UniVBE driver does work with the ATI Mach64 cards, you just
have to disable the Linear Framebuffer.

This is true, but then it defeats the need for UniVBE.  I get the same
results with our without UniVBE if I disable the Linear Framebuffer.  I
even attempted to move the buffer's address with no luck.

I actually used UniVBE version 5.1 (the one with ICR2 is 5.1a), which
did work with the Linear FrameBuffer enabled, but I didn't really see
any improvement.  I think I need to send some e-mail to ATI and SciTech
Software and see if either of then have a clue.  As the Mach64 is listed
by SciTech Software as supported by UniVBE.  I am pretty sure that the
version of VESA on my card is 1.5 not 2.0 which ICR2 apparently is
using.

I really don't get improved frame rates either.  I never meant to imply
that using the included UniVBE would improve your performance, I just
thought you couldn't get it to work.

If you get any definitive answers would you let me know.  Any way to speed
up the DOS performance of my MACH64 would be appreciated.

it will)
