(N3) controler problems

by Mike Barlo » Thu, 11 May 2000 04:00:00

I have a home made 4 axis controller and In N3 it feels as if I'm using
a keyboard.  It feels as if I have a big dead spot and right after the dead
spot It feels as if I've turned full lock.  You can imagine how dangerous
that could be ;-)  I've tried both DX and papyrus drivers from the options
menu and calibrated many times but nothing I do seems to make a difference.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, comments?

Hey Mike,  assuming all the pin connections are correct and the pot isn't
damaged, I'd say the pot value is too large. Of  course, not knowing what
you used, this is just a guess.

Another couple of guesses.
1: Are you using linear taper pots ? If not they should be.
2: Did you set it up in Windows as a 4 axis joystick, if so try making a new
controller and ticking the race car controller box, this I believe removes
the windows deadzone. In game controllers click add, then custom and follow
the directions :)
