Is the length of Michigan Int'l Speedway incorrect in ICR2?

Here is a question I hope someone can clear up for me.  I recently purchased
a copy of Cart Racing (ICR2) and have been trying my hand at Michigan
International Speedway (MIS).  I saved a few hot laps and noticed a strange
result:  the lap times and average speed did not seem to jibe for a
two mile track which MIS is supposed to be.  Instead it seems ICR2 is
making MIS out to be 2.02 miles.

An illustration:

Two days ago I managed a lap time of 31.985 seconds.  ICR2 gave the
corresponding average speed as 227.350 mph.  By my calculations, the
correct average speed for a two mile track should have been 225.106 mph.
(i.e. 2*31.985/3600).

Is something amiss here?

Any thoughts on this anomaly would be appreciated.

I've known this for quite a long time and I think this problems exists on all
the ovals (tracks that display speeds instead of times) except maybe Milwaukee
for some odd reason.  This is why I personally stress lap times over lap
speeds.  For example, at the 2.029 California Speedway, Mauricio Gugelmin's
30.316 sec 240.942 mph lap is said to be 241+ in ICR2.  Hope this helps!

God bless,

This is a known property of all the ovals in ICR2/CART (except mabe
Milwaukee for some reason).  You can tell that it's happening without even
doing any calculations.  Most laps will have faster average speeds than
your top speed on the straights.  This is, of course, impossible in real
life.
