Realistic is the same as sim mode, but is Easy the same as arcade mode, or
just sim mode with less intelligent competitors?

There is no need to put him through that :-)  You can set the damage in
F1RS ot OFF and even use the same overhead view that Psygnosis
F1 has. So IMHO he can get the arcade game he wants. You can also
turn enough options ON so that you don't have to drive very  well.
It should be right up his alley :-)

:) No the thing I don't like about sims is the control. You have to slow
down a lot to make turns, which I don't like. Otherwise, you spin out.

You really should try the POD demo. I NEVER used the brake driving
that... ;^)

Yeah, POD's cool, I've had for a while. I don't think _anyone- uses brake
sin that game. Have you tried the bikes? They're awesome.

I think Robin was talking about the ease of use. I have all 3 games
and F1RS is much harder than either Psyg or Eidos' games. Even with
all the options turned on.

Psygnosis F1 was fun for a while, but far too arcadey, but hey, its a
Playstation game isnt it?

Yeah, that's what I want, arcade style. I want to be able to turn a corner
at full speed or near full speed without spinning out. In F1RS I can't even
turn the corner without spinning out (I have the PC Gamer demo).

DPHI

by DPHI » Wed, 11 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Dude, the F1RS demo sucks,it's only good for getting a look at the  graphics.
The sim is totally different than the demo. It has the most comprehensive
options for every level of racing I've ever seen, although you'll need the
deductive powers of Sherlock Holmes to figure out the damn menus. In the easy
mode, with all the aids on, you can blast around the world's great circuits
with your foot to the floor and feel like a world champion.

A lot of people complain about the sound. Yesterday, as the McLaren's danced
around the rest of the field in Australia, I ran the sim along with the stereo
sound off the TV. They sounded very similar. I would suggest a sub-woofer
though. The Aussie track looked pretty accurate also, with just a few
differences in barriers and runoffs.

So, I guess my point is, if you are a true fan of F1, buy F1RS, it has
something for everyone. If all you want to do is look at pretty colors and race
cars that look like blackboard erasers, get POD.
