Jerk to the left

I'm running the 3DFX version of N2 with the NASCAR PRO Racing Wheel.  My
car keeps unexpectedly jerking to the left at the most inopportune times.
I'm on a Dell P200MMX w/ 64MB RAM and a Monster 3D card.  I've re-
calibrated the wheel over and over to no avail...

Any idea's?

If your  not running your joystick through a seperate game card, try
downloading and installing the propanel utility from Thrustmaster's website
- http://www.thrustmaster.com.
If you are using a gamecard or the propanel utility, you may have a pot
going bad on you.

I'm wondering if Devon just recently installed N2 and has never used
one of the "original" N2 patches.  Wasn't "jerking the left" one of
those things that was fixed by the patch?  <shrug>

Devon,

Sounds like you either have to clean the pot or replace it. When
I had the same problem with my T2 I changed the pot  and it solved the
problem.

Sorry...  What's a pot?

To clean the pots on Thrustmaster products, get some Tuner/Switch
Cleaner and Lubricant from an electronics supply store. Open up the
housing on the unit and spray the insides of the pot (short for
potentiometer). I usually direct the spray (via the tube extenstion for
the spray nozzle) into the openings of the pot where the solder lugs
are. Then move the wheel or pedal through its full range 4-6 times to
work the cleaner over all the contacts. If the unit was acting up quite
a bit, you may want to give it a second "cleaning" before sealing up the
unit and heading back out to the track.

There are pots for each pedal and for each lever on the back of the GP1
wheel. The latter can usually be cleaned by finding a "squarish" hole on
the pot and directing the spray through the hole. You should be able to
clean the pots for the levers without disassembling anything on your
GP1, however to get to the steering wheel pot you will need to remove
the housing cover of the wheel.

[For the non-electronics or non-mechanical racers out there, the pot is
the "silver" cylinder that the is directly behind the wheel inside the
housing. It should have some wires connected to it and the wheel is
connected its plastic shaft. There should be a "shaft" coming out of one
end of the cylinder.]

As the patch includes new exe-files, the old patches wouldn't help, so I
guess (or hope) they are included in the new exe-files.

Thanks Michael :)  I bought some Tuner Cleaner/Lubricant from Radio Shack
today and will give it a shot tonight.  $8.00 for a can of that stuff!

You need to straighten out the wheel a bit earlier when coming off the
corner. I have found on banked tracks (Bristol will get you like this) when
you get to the straightaway. if you don't have the wheels straight, the car
jerks toward the inside wall. Another way to help this is to set your car up
a tick tight, and once the car gets to where it jerks it just points you down
the straight. You have to play with this to get your setup to help you, and
you will hit the wall allot until you figure it out. GOOD LUCK.
