Wow! I can't believe it.

Using the Cooper I qualified 8th with a lap time of 1:36.19
Then I went on to do a 6 lap race with 11 other guys and finished 4th
...
I passed the 4th place holder in the next to last turn (where the
yellow guard rails are) on the final lap to take 4th.

First time I have raced without getting passed or lapped..

Man I love this game..

Sorry for gloating..

Same here.  Was in one of those 18-player Monza races in the early weeks of
GPL, with the HUGE wrecks and all.  Had a mediocre qual time, was back about
13th.  Lucky me, this let me avoid the big "furball" at the start, and get
into about 5th.  Staying cool and collected, and most importantly ON the
track, I passed the guys spinning off.  Get down to the last lap, running
3rd, pretty far from the 2nd place car.  Going down the straight to
Parabolica, I see two cars going in there, figure it's second place and a
lapped car, thinking I might get lucky and get 2nd if the guy spins.

So I'm coming into Parabolica, and see the two cars spun off.  I pick
through just as one of them gets going again.  We both exit pretty close to
each other, and drag race to the finish.  I beat the guy by a foot or two at
the line, and come to find out it was 1st and 2nd that got together, so that
drag race was for the win!!  I was shaking after that one, whoa what a rush!

Nothing wrong with a good gloat or two.  <G>
Looks like you are enjoying yourself discovering the fun and
competition of GPL on-line.
My wife got sick of me dragging her into the computer room, every time
i managed to finish on the podium, just so i could gloat over the
newspaper article with my name on it..  :-)
Glad to see you doing some hosting as well.   Good stuff.!!
