Looking for a GPL league...

by David Montan » Fri, 05 Oct 2001 12:16:18

Hi, I've finally decided to take the plunge and join a league to try my hand
at longer races.  Any suggestions on where I might get good info about
leagues looking for drivers?  My GPL rank is 122.38, with everything thrown
off by my Nurburgring time.  I'm at a 104% vs. Papy benchmark, not blazing
speed by any stretch, but it's still fun for me.
Thanks in advance,
David

Looking for a GPL league...

Hello David,

If FV cars (F3 engine in F2 chassis) interest you, or anyone else out there
for that matter, there are two leagues I would highly suggest, both of
which I am a part of.

The first, a bit more serious, is the GPVL:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
They drive pro long races, which means no shift-r at all.  They actually
have two championships, not only FV, but if you're interested F2 or FD, I
forget, but I'm not in that one.  This league is about to finish its season
- 2 races left, and then I'm not sure when the next season begins, but
probably only a couple of weeks later.  I'm not so sure any new racers are
needed for this league, but you might as well check it out.

The other league is the GPL F3 Regulars:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~mackaypenny/gplf3r.html
In this one, there are intermediate long races, so shift-r is allowed.
Last season we used FG (F3 engine in F1 chassis) but next season, which
starts at the end of the month, we'll be using FV.  In this league,
however, I know we in fact do need to recruit some new *** for next
season.

Let me know if you're interested or if you have any questions, or you can
just sign up through the web pages.  Both leagues have a good bunch of
guys, and racing the FV really makes for fun racing since it's not as
dangerous when racing close.  There is a good range of calibre also, so as
you get better there is always someone worse and someone better than you.

Well that's enough blabbering, sorry but I just started getting into this
game and I really love it (watch out though, I hear people don't like to
hear the 'g' word when referring to GPL).

Many things GPL can be found through this site of GPL links
http://www.noctua.f2s.com/links.html

Next,  you didn't mention what Class you were looking for,  (F1, F2, F3,
or even the Hybrids (FV, FG, FD, et..)).  Try the above page first.  In the
not to distant future, there will be a place to go to get specific (N4, GPL,
et..) league information (FILSCA:-).
