Soooo, it doesnt run on your rig (not surprising at all) but you THINK it
may be ok in Vista with (extremely) Alpha Creative sound drivers....
LOL....  Good luck wit dat considering Creative's released drivers are
perhaps the buggiest code ever written for a PC.  Creative should have fired
its driver devs years ago along with Harvey Fong....

Blue Screens are a typical byproduct of actual knowledge not inline with

What don't you like about Harvey Fong? He used to work for the legendary
Hercules video card company and has always been helpful to me. And the
X-Fi drivers cause no issue for me on XP SP2, but then I chose the
minimal install drivers.

Like I said, both issues ceased when I uninstalled it.

Not saying it's defective.  Just saying it isn't working out on MY machine.

Is Fong still at Creative? If yes, where can I find him (moderating a
forum)?

I used to follow the Creative newsgroup when it existed, have not really
followed their forum since they did away with
the newsgroup.
I recently ordered a X-FI card, and thought I would check their web forum
out. Holy cow, it is hard to follow, they have lumped all their sound card
products under a general forum for soundcards, and there is not much
organization to it. I do not recall seeing any posts from Harvey, at least
on the parts of the forum I read.

I would have to agree with the buggy code, they really write some bloated
drivers, I noticed now that I have the X-Fi drivers installed, it really
uses up more resources, and even my page file useage seems to have grown a
lot.  Imho, any driver, that takes several minutes to install on an X2-4400+
socket 939 system, has a lot of bloat :).

Thanks for your reply! Shame, that they shut down their newsgroups, the
forums are horrible.
