Thanks

Are you kidding.

We've had TOCA for what must be about a year now in the UK and I am still
playing it.

Excellent game. Not overly realistic and more of an arcade game, but it is
great fun.

TOCA Racing any good?

I've had TOCA for some time too, but I was able to get an Import copy
from Interact CD store in PAsadena, CA.

I LOVE this game, and play it all the time! And I also race an Audi A4
in SCCA Solo II - and though it is not a true sim, I still enjoy it a
hell of a lot! Even NASCAR2 or ICR2 with the Touring Car patches don't
hold a candle to TOCA!

I will say, though, as my years of racing/working with SCCA, when I
first got TOCA and tried to play it I hated it! It seemed like an arcade
game, cars slipping n sliding and banging into each other. Not the way
we race in SCCA. But then when I recently bought my A4, I bought some
BTCC video tapes, and guess what? They really DO race that way! Well,
now that I understood that type of racing, I have really gotten into it!
Heck, as long as I waited for M1 Tank Platoon II (my all-time FAVORITE
game!) and Mech Commander, I hardly play them, I play TOCA! And I had
quit racing for about 11 years (I am 43), but TOCA and my new A4 have
got me back into it!

And anyone interested, and in SoCal, contact me. Not only would I LOVE
to do TOCA head to head, but anyone want to try out Solo II (Autocross),
I would be willing to give you a hand! Missed last weekend - it was at a
real road course at the Sheriff's Training Center in Devore, and was at
NIGHT! Was one of THE BEST races I ever had!

Does TOCA do 3dfx? I tried teh demo but it does not seem to support my V3
cards in SLI. Actually does not support 3dfx at all.

Thanks

Make sure you select display device 2 from the options menu, that's all I can
suggest, and get the latest drivers etc.

Yeah, it does 3dfx - actually I think that's a must for TOCA.

TOCA Racing any good?

TOCA is fantastic. It's half way between a sim and arcade. What is lacks
are set ups and a damage model but the physics are wonderful and the
racing superb. It supports all manner of links, but, as with all
internet links, the lag can be hard to adjust to if your line speed
isn't great. I've been playing TOCA for 8 months and I'm still not
losing interest. TOCA 2 is due out in the UK around Christmas, but, if
you live in the States, I wouldn't wait until then - it may be a year
until TOCA 2 comes out there. Actually, even if you live in the UK, you
might find the 3 month wait too much too bear.
You can get lots of TOCA information at
http://ds.dial.pipex.com/town/street/sc32/toca/ and find other racers at
http://huizen.dds.nl/~thenetii/index.htm. You can even join a TOCA User
Group at http://www.tpjones.demon.co.uk/tocaug.htm

It uses Direct 3D so it will use your 3dfx.

I figured it out. Thanks!! You set the display device to 2 and off you
go. The change is graphics is not immediately obvious but you are using
the 3D card. Cool game. I guess my only complaint is that the control
using a joystick seems a bit too abrupt. It's hard to control the car
without doing aggressive moves.
