Problem with IndyCar Racing

by Wedg » Sat, 25 Dec 1993 18:40:01

I am experiencing a problem that I suspect may be common, because
my friend has also had the same thing happen on his machine.
When I try to run IndyCar, I get the following message:
"Dos/4GW Professional Protected Mode Runtime Version 1.93"
followed by a copyright, and then one of two things happens:
1) The computer locks, or
2) I get the C:> prompt back right away, but IndyCar remains loaded
in conventional memory, taking up some 40k.

Either way, the game doesn't work and I have to reboot.
My system is as follows:
386/25 w/ math coprocessor
8mb RAM w/ 612K free in conventional memory
Dos 6.0 (no compressed drives)
Sound Blaster Pro (and I have tried configuring the game without sound
drivers - no luck)

My friend, who has the same problem, is running a 486sx/25 (or maybe a 33)
with a SB16-compatible card, and I think he has over 600K free, although
he has only 4mb RAM (which is the minimum requirement).

desperate to try this game out. PLEASE!!!!

The only time I experince lockup or toss-out is with my mouse drivers.  If
it is loaded, then I get booted from the game.  What kind of mouse/driver
are you using??

Oh yeah, forgot that. I'm using a Logitech Trackman with their driver
program. Could there be an incompatibility there? Anyone know?

Same problem! Try patch to version 1.02, it worked for me.
Find file ICR102.ZIP on the known ftp-sites (example:
