just got F1GP (the old one)

I just picked up the old F1GP game (actually a gift for the bro-in
law, but it's the kind that keeps on giving)  So I naturally had to
break it in for him...and was pretty surprised at the gameplay.  Sure
the graphics aren't as spiffy as Indycar or Nascar...but I really
enjoyed dicing it up w/ the other cars and not having to spend all my
time  finely tweaking the suspension, etc.  There are times when this
is fun too, but there are also times when you just want to haul around

course w/ the mega downforces and hence not losing the tail as often.

I'd suggest anyone pick it up if they haven't already cause at $10 for
a CD version...it's the best bang for the buck.  Also, you're
guaranteed to max performance out of the game w/ a '486 since it's
capable of being run on lesser machines (no nitrous burning Pentium
needed here!).

BTW, the enjoyment factor goes up tenfold w/ the new T2 steering wheel
too...

Hear hear!  That's always been the beauty of Mr Crammonds work.
While they are good simulations, the simulation itself is not taken to
the extreme where it adversly affects game play.
I've enjoyed F1GP (and it's forerunner 'Revs') for a good few years.
I've also got NASCAR, ICR and ICR2, but with these the problem is that
one has to invest A LOT of time fine-tuning the car if one wants to
be really competative.  With F1GP you are able to modify some parameters
in order to adjust the car to your own driving style, but this is fairly
easy, and doesn't take too long.  And you really *CAN* crab hold of the
car by the short'n'curlies, and sling it round the track.
I had a test drive on F1GP2 a couple of months ago - and it was as good
to play as F1GP(1).  And the VGA graphics were FINE - so no worries if
(like me) you PC might not be up to SVGA.
I'm gaggin' for it to be released ....
