Just as a though but wouldn't it be great if we could use the ICR
tracks with NASCAR and vice versa?

Surley the only difference is the data to tell the computer cars the
lines and what gear to take things in.

Has anyone tried this or had any success?

If someones managed to decypher the replays they must be able to do
something with the track files.

Regards all

I have tried to add some tracks to my ICR, but it hasn't worked.
What I did was to copy an existing track and rename it and put that
track inot ICR; however, after doing that I wasn't able to access
the game.
I have thought about trying to swap Indy from ICR into NASCAR, but
haven't tried it yet.

If anyone gives you any ideas I'd greatly appreciate if you could forward
any to me.   Thanks

Don't bother.  It can't be done.  One day the rep from Papyrus explained
it, but I couldn't follow the tech stuff.  The simple part is that the
two source codes are different enough to not be able to accept the
other's track data.  It's similar to how you can't use an ICR setup for
Michigan for a NASCAR at Michigan.  The two data files are incompatible.
For that matter, you can't call Taladega Daytona by renaming it and
expecting it to work.  Won't happen.  Someone once told me it could be
done if you did some hex editing, but that went far beyond my
capabilities so I just let it be.

Yeah, this would be great. I would love to drive a Nascar at
Elkhart Lake or an Indycar at Bristol :)

Nope. Both games use a different graphics engine. Trust me,
it would be close to impossible to change tracks. It's not as simple
as defining the driving line and gear changes.

Only copying the Indycar Tracks over the Nascar Tracks and vice versa.
Obviously it didn't work (but I was kind of hoping it would :)

Cheers,

As far as I know and as far as I've seen on a variety of boards, the
dat files for ICR and NASCAR are based on entirely different graphics
standards, and are not compatible. A simple way to prove this to
yourself is to compare the michigan files...they aren't even close to
eachother.
