T2 sucks!!! also doesn't work in gp2 right

by Marc Johnso » Tue, 06 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Playing with my t2 the other day I was going thru the fourth turn at long
beach and all the sudden crack crack and my throttle goes to the floor.
So look at and the spring inside is broken.  Today I called Thrustmaster
and they are sending me springs.  I am afraid they are sending me the
ones for outside the case, but I need inside the case.  After I called
Thrustcraper I took apart the pedals and try turning around the spring
and it works a ok a little soft but ok, So I hook it up adn start up gp2
and I calibrate it and race but my brake is the throttle and vise versa.
Has any one gotten it to work?  I know they have or we wuld have seen
alot more post about it.

You need to use the adapter that came with it. GP2 uses Joystick one's Y axis
to control throttle and brake. If you use Joystick two's X axis, it'll come up
backwards like you said. Maybe it's because it's a British product? They drive
on the wrong side on the road you know... :)

Thrustmaster has the BEST DAMN CUSTOMER SUPPORT in the business.  I have sent in
broken merchandise (THAT I BROKE) to be repaird only to find a SHINEY NEW
CONTROLLER at my door within a week.  This has happened with my F16 and my WCS.
I now own the FLCS16, TQS and T2 and can race and fly hard knowing my gear is in
good hand should it ever break.

You need to select the "Control Driven Calibration" for Control Method
under Control Method/Advanced Menu.

Or you can use the T2.CON file on the CD under GPSAVES directory.  Or
you can use the attached uuencoded con file.

begin 644 t1_test.con
MOJ$]A0(                                    & 3( #% ," $R" %&

end

NO, NO, NO!

advanced control menu. Make sure the contro ldriven calibration box is
checked, and hey presto it will calibrate properly. You don't need to use
the adapter, although you can if you want to, especially if running under
w95, without booting to dos.

I have a SB-16 card that I use for joystick, and I'm not needing the
adapter. It was a bit of a pain to set up at first, but I finally
figured out that I needed to create my own setup using one of the "Not
Used" slots in the control setup advanced menu. I think T2 is great
(despite my post 5 minutes ago complaining about the wild price
differences in stores- low as $89 and up to $179- DOUBLE!). It isn't
an arcade wheel, you can break or dislodge it, but it isn't fragile,
it is built to take respectful use.

[anybody out there ever watch a new driver at the wheel? Jeeze- if it
is ever going to break, that is the time]

BTW, about setup again-  I've since been alerted that there is a
"T2.con" file in the CD. Put that in to your GPSAVES directory (I
think that is the directory), and then just use that when you go into
controller setup/advanced setup. Gear shift was reversed for me, but
that was easy enough to change.

Yah that is true they send me parts and have also fixed it for me.  I
just think when I spend that much money (hey for 14 $100 is a ton of
money) it shouldn't break, but my friend has said I am sorta rough with
it but they do have excellent tech support.  Maybe its so good cause
there products are so easy to break <g>

I've got a 10 year old (today) and a 14 year old, and
about a dozen of their friends playing GP2 on two machines,
one with a T1 and the other with a T2, in the same room
direct connect, EVERY DAMNED DAY, and the Thrustmaster wheels
are standing up real fine. Easy to break, not in my experience.
