GPL - Add Ons?

by Paul Jage » Tue, 04 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I haven't played GPL for over year, but I'm going to give it another go (I
must admit to finding it very, very difficult, even practising continually
and using different set ups!).

Could anyone guide me as to what add- ons I have missed, and should be
downloading.

Thanks

PJ

I suppose the number one add-on would be Dave Noonan's track converter,
allowing you to convert tracks from ICR2, NASCAR 2, N1999, N3 and NASCAR
Legends for use in GPL. Find it at the Pits site:  http://www.theuspits.com/

The first add-on is not really an add-on at all.  You should make sure you
download the latest version of GPL from www.papy.com.  The current version
is 1.2.

The next add-ons I would recommend are the excellent cars and tracks from
the GPLEA.  These can be found at www.gplea.org.  They also have a fine set
of sounds to improve on the sounds supplied with GPL.

A new site only recently opened is the GPL Spares Factory at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
Additional dashes and***pits can be found at Andrew Olley's site
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Another new site offers replacements wheels.  The GPL Tyre Barn can be found
here http://www.racesimcentral.net/

A regular contributor here, Bruce Kennewell, has a site with replacement and
additional program covers produced by another contributor, Don Hodgdon, here
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Another site with additional graphics is offered by Bill Tillman here
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Finally, if you want to particpate in on-line racing, the place to go is
VROC which is found here http://www.racesimcentral.net/;You can download
WinVROC and connect to a wonderful community of on-line racers.

That should be enough to get you going.

Cheers

Phil

Try some of the cars like the cooper or the honda. They are not as hard to
drive.

Unless you've already got it then download patch v1.2 from www.papy.com
I think it's also available from www.theuspits.com  Take a look at the links
section on the bottom of the also. Take a look at Alison Hine's site at
http://www.simracing.com/alison/gpl/index.htm

A good site for motivation is GPLRank , setup in the last few weeks which
lists everyone's handicap compared to Papyrus' benchmark times . See the
following
http://newgplrank.schuerkamp.de/

Take a look at  http://website.lineone.net/~richardn/  for advice on setups

Welcome back and persevere

The best thing I did to improve my enjoyment of GPL, I mostly drive
the ring, is to get Allison Hine's setups for the Coventry.
