LFS S2 will have suspension damage

I was checking out Live for Speed http://www.racesimcentral.net/
that they have updated information about version S2 ... they are working
on suspension damage.  Very cool.  This will change how people drive on
line in LFS.  Unfortunately I'll still be slow :(.

Damage is more realistic but IMO it just leads to frustration
in a game. Some idiot rams you, either accidentally or on
purpose, and the only option you have at that point is to pit
and start over. I hope damage is an option the hosts can shut
off.

S1 is a lot better than demo but you still get hit quite a
bit. I've been far ahead in a race and I come across somebody
2 laps down and they cause me to wreck; with no damage I can
still get back in the race and win, with damage it would be
all over.

I think the best thing to do would be to race with people who are good at
racing :)
There must be some who have LFS

No matter what, a good sim needs a good damage model.  I'm sure with LFS
there will be the option to turn damage off or to lessen its effect.

If you're two laps up and then someone "purposely" rams you, then you need
to find better friends.  :)

That's part of racing, is it not?  Keep it on the island whilst ahead?

You used your skills, drove at 100% for a while to work up a buffer between
you and the pack, now all you gotta do is not throw it away - that early
work should pay dividends as you now only need to run 70 - 80%.  You want to
be able to race and bash with no consequence, run with the PSX GT games :)

Now, if you're saying it was a wrecker then find some others to race with :)

Regards,

Mark

Leaving the idiots out of the equation, in general damage changes ones
approach to a sim.  I always try and race clean, but something in the
back of my mind makes me try a bit harder when the sim has damage.

The change is there even if others aren't involved.  I have brushed the
walls in LFS way more times than I would have if there was a chance of
being damaged.  I pushed too hard because I knew (in the back of my
mind) that the penalty would not be a car I couldn't continue to drive.

All in all, can't wait for S2 :).
