As far as I heard the BGN pack will not be released in the UK, I
believe I heard someone say that they'd spoken to Sierra UK and
confirmed that. My memory was created long before even 16k DRAMs, so I
wouldn't rely on that too much though :)
I'm not sure about SODA though, I asked a mate from the US to buy it
and mail to me. UK customs charges are a sod but at least I've got it.
Damn fine it is too, easy to drive, but real difficult to drive
quickly. Also _immensely_ satisfying when you get a corner just right,
power-sliding your way through :) IMO it's pretty poor without a 3D
card though, with all graphics on the frame-rate is too slow, and
without the eye-candy it seems, to me at least, to be severely lacking
the impression of speed. With a Rendition card it really kicks some
serious ***- still not the prettiest to look at but perfectly
acceptable. The driving is what makes it stand out, and the first time
I took leapt off a jump, landed on top of another car and
barrel-rolled down the track I fell in love. The cars look great, as
you follow other cars you can see the suspension working furiously
across the bumps, and as you take off the suspension "droops" as the
wheels are dragged down by gravity. Most impressive, and bodes well
for Grand Prix Legends.
Steve, p-l-e-a-s-e hurry with the 3dFX patch for this. My Rendition
card occasionally locks up for no reason I can fathom, completely
crashing my system (only in SODA). Given that more people have 3dFX
these days than Rendition, hopefully a 3dFX patch should sell more
copies of this great game. (Nice touch with the on-line Hall-of-Fame
by the way, really nice idea).
Cheers!
