Does anyone have the above wheel and pedals setup?
Are you happy with it? Does it compare well to the likes of the
Thrustmaster wheels?
After the recent purchase of F1RS I've decided it's time to buy a
wheel and the A1 is on top of the list so far. The Digital Edge F1
looks very good but at $650 it's $250 more expensive than the A1 and
more than I'm willing to pay.
For those that don't know of the A1, check it out at...

For what its worth, I also am in the market for a good wheel/pedal
setup and have the Advantage 1 on top of my list.
The TSW2 at US$175.00 starting price looked a likely candidate,
however import duty and freight costs will push it beyond the
AUD$600.00.
The Digital Edge F1 Compact is much cheaper than their $650 F1 Sim,
about $275.00  however I'm not impressed with their plastic pedals on
that modal.
I read the review on the A1 in PC Powerplay Nov edition. A shame there
was no specific talk on actual use in sims, however they were
extremely enthusiastic about its build quality and comfortable pedal
setup.
Having investigated most options I will be ordering the A1 tomorrow.
If you can wait I'll let you know my impressions as soon as I receive
it, which will hopefully be early the following week.

Dave.

Are you just going to risk it and order or have you seen the A1 in the
flesh? I emailed Ferraro and they told me that there are many stores
in the Melbourne area that have them. I'm not sure if your in
Melbourne but if so you might want to check either Propeller Head in
Bourke Rd Camberwell (Ph 9813 2500) or Computer Age Systems in
Doncaster (Ph 9852 2330).
I'll be looking forward to your review.

I would love to know what your impressions are.
Unfortunately, Jason Ferraro told me there are no NSW distributors as
yet, and the process takes months.....

I am thinking of getting the Thrustmaster NASCAR Pro wheel (I can get
it for 35% below cost through a contact - only $190 or so)

But I really like the Ferraro wheel......

I'd appreciate it if you let me know how you go.

The TM Nascar Pro retails in Sydney for AUD$350.00. So you are getting
a substantial discount. Going the extra $50.00 inc delivery for the A1
over the Nascar Pro was a minor issue given the "promise" of a
superior piece of equipment.
Besides my TM GP1 just failed on me and I do not intend putting any
more money into TM's pocket.
Anyone Stateside reading this should understand that with the US$ to
AUD$ conversion, import duty and sales tax we pay the equivalent of
US$240.00 for a Nascar Pro and over US$100.00 for a GP1, so when they
fail, it hurts.
Although I'm beginning to feel somewhat like a guinea pig :), I am
still going to get the A1, and will post my impressions.
Dave.

A fello sim racer of mine told me his GP1 was on the downhill slide
about a month or so ago. I gave him the URL for FD and he had one the
next day :)). Living in Melbourne he saw one in a shop he gets stuff
from and grabbed it in a second. He says it is superb! I doubt any of
you will be disappointed in the slightest. I actually want the seat that
goes with it as well. I sit at a coffee table using my Madcatz
wheel/pedals. Sorry, gotta go........to the chiropracters again :))

For the money for the seat, you're probably better off with the Hyper
Stimulator - but it means you gotta keep going to the chiro..... :)
That seat that Ferraro uses is a simple plastic speedway seat, pretty
shocking actually....
It's probably not hard to rig up your own setup in a similar frame,
with a real raceseat.......

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll just get the wheel/pedals and do a
little carpentery - I think I'll start with the saw on this lounge chair
and then ..........:)
