Detail settings for Midtown Madness?

Great game, but some issue with sort of ***frame rate, like when I make
the first turn on the second or third Blitz race (the checkpoint races).
Anyone want to suggest any detail settings I could use that works well on
their systems?
My system spec:
Windows 98 with latest IE5
PII 400 on Abit BH6
128MB PC-100 RAM
Game installed on Maxtor 8GB drive
Viper V550 using Nvidia's MS Certified 1.15 drivers
Voodoo2 SLI using the latest non-Q3 compatable 3DFX reference drivers
Nothing running in background.

The strange thing is, I get equal performance on my Voodoo2 SLI and TNT,
except the color saturation is a LOT better on the TNT. Very odd that SLI
isn't outdoing the TNT in Direct3D. One Voodoo2 being outperformed by a TNT
is plausible, but SLI running equal to a TNT when SLI crushes TNT in Q2? I
ran the game on 1024x768 on the TNT and Voodoo2 SLI and they run about the
same, smooth but kinda chunky when doing fast swerving back and forth in
traffic.

I have a Voodoo2 SLI rig too.  Try using latest reference drivers from 3Dfx
that are Q3 compatible.  Those are what I'm running on two Diamond Voodoo2
12 megs cards with MM with all the graphics options on and at 1024x768 and
have no framerate problems.  And yes, I totally agree that the color
saturation looks a lot better on a TNT....cant wait to try it on a TNT2
Ultra card.

I ALWAYS use my VIPER 550 instead of my M23D SLI combo - it always
runs faster and looks better unless the game in question requires
OpenGL/Glide.

In the case of MTM - I initially setup the game to run at 1024x768
using the Viper 550 and it looked and performed great.  Then a friend
came over and we setup a new driver and it reset all the settings to
defaults which included Monster 2 3Dfx at 640x480 resolution.

Not only was it jumpier than hell at a much lower resolutions - it
looked like crap.  After about 3 minutes we switched it to the Viper
and it looks 400% better.

Most of it has to do with AGP  - the textures are TONS better - you
can actually read the words MUSTANG on the back of your GT Coupe when
using AGP - the Monster 2 cards only give you a blocky polygon model
of a car.

AGP also gives you really cool metallic reflection on the cars.  The
ONLY time the game gets jumpy is at the very beginning of each race
where you have 7 cars all smoking their tires and the graphics engine
is trying to rendered all that white smoke.  Other than that - this
game is smooth as glass on an AGP card.

My Viper 770 arrives tomorrow and I can only dream how much better it
will be with that card and probably at 1600x1200 resolution.
