Gordon/Montoya "Trading Paint" to be rebroadcast.

Hi Guys....

Today, I was totally pleased to get to see the Speed TV re-broadcast of the
live special they did last week from Indy.  Its an hour and half show....and
totally and completely entertaining.  They are running it again, this coming
Wednesday....check their program guide for the time (or tape it if you can't
watch it).  I was amazed how much fun it was to watch these two guys go
"play" in each other's race cars!

Gordon ran only 7 laps I believe, best was a 15 something!  That is nothing
short of amazing to me (and I think it was to him as well).  Even Montoya in
the Cup car is an amazing thing to watch.  A Winston Cup car on a flat road
course is not the easiest thing to drive....and Montoya was not
***-footing around the circuit by any means!  The in-car footage of Gordon
driving is just awesome!  How did he do that?  Word is he practiced for
three days (after Pocono) using F1-2002.

If you haven't seen this....don't miss it on this coming Wednesday!  My
respect for the driving skills of both of these drivers just went up about
500% (and I had high respect for them both to start with)!

Regards,

Tom

And for those of us on the wrong side of the Atlantic, please somebody give

If that was his trainer, I'm surprised he knew where the corners were.

They talked about this during the Canadian GP.  Hats off to J.Gordon for an
amazing performance.
It just beggars belief how good M.Schumacher is, then.

Do you guys really believe Gordon never sat in an F1 car before, and jumped
into one in front of dozens of millions of TV viewers risking to make a
complete fool of himself? :)

As someone in the original discussion of this pointed out to me, Mario
Andretti once said "if you can drive, you can drive".  I am not about
to debate that philosophy with a guy who's won at every level he's
raced.  Particularly not with last weeks demonstration that the more
the cars change, the more the driving skill stays paramount.

Do I believe he'd never sat in one?  Yep.  He's said so repeatedly as
in pining for the opportunity to test one.  As far as risk making a
fool of himself, not likely.  Sames true for Montoya.  Having an Indy
500 trophy on the resume means that you don't suck as a driver (even
when it was an IRL only event all you saw was former CART drivers
win).  Tag onto the I500 a couple of F1 races and some CART records
and he's got nothing to be embarressed with.

I'm just worried that JPM might decide that after F1 he might decide
to 'retire' to Cup racing...  :)

After watching the event, I think it was obvious he had never driven an F1
car before.  At the same time, I think the 4 time wc champ is pretty secure
with himself and doesn't worry too much about making a fool of himself.  He
was like a little boy in a candy store.

I don't think Jeff cares about what anyone thinks at all.  Look at his
performance in the Michilin Rally Masters series last year and his
general reactions towards it.  If it has 4 wheels he seems sincerely
e***d to drive it.
