I used to be able to have at least 2 dloads running at the same
time...(maybe more...I forget)  but lately I seem to be only able to run one
dload at a time.  Where is the option/preference for that...ie5.0 btw.

IE adheres to the HTTP 1.1 standard which "allows" only two simultaneous
downloads from the same site.  It's a good citizen kind of thing.  It's
over-rideable but I'm far too tired to remember how.  Search the web or
support.microsoft.com.  I'm pretty sure it was a registry "hack".

BTW, it is kinda rude to override the values especially if (like me you're

Mbps at off-peak times.  I could really drag down a server (even if it's on
a T-1) by downloading several big files at once.

in the IE5 menubar:

Tools | Options | Advanced

Uncheck "use http 1.1" in the HTTP 1.1 section.

Use getright, I think it's the best download manager available.

You can start with the free version at www.getright.com and then you'll get
the real ones if you like it....

But it works perfect :)

why user internet explorer for downloads when you can use a great program
like getright?  http://www.getright.com.  Though, recommend download version
4.1.1 because the latest 4.2 series has rumors surrounding it leaking ur
computer info to getright
