I don't think there is anything to change the # of downloads in IE...try
using download managers instead, I like to use Download Accelerator Plus
(fast + free, but unless you have a lot of bandwith you can't surf and
download at the same time because for each file it opens up 4 downloads to
get faster downloads) or NetVampire (easy to use, works well and is free).

Yes there is. I have a cable connection, and I installed some reg
tweaks to speed up my cable connection. After I did that, to my
amazement I could download 15 files in IE...
If anyone's interested in a link for this tweak, just say it, I'm at
work right now, I'll mail it when I get home.

Cool, but IE isn't great for resuming, or speed...with DAP using my
college's T1 I have seen ~320kbps on a few of my downloads...the best IE
could manage was ~100kbps.  Although DAP doesn't do much for my modem at
home...maybe 1kbps more if I'm lucky.
Also if you goto a site that has a ton of links to download, ie set-ups or
grafx for your gpl tracks, all you do is highlight all the links and drag
and drop them into netvampire...much quicker than "right click-save link as"
for all the links...
Both, like all download managers, allow you to set-up downloads and leave
while it continues downloading files even if they fail to finish a few
times...personal preference I guess.
