Since getting the ridiculously easy fix for the mirrors from a post on this
newsgroup and making the change on the mirror refresh rate, I LOVE MY GeFORCE
Nvidia card!  at 1200x whatever I am getting 40 fps in the pits and 36 to 38 on
the track.  The GeForce has a better look to it than my Voodoo 2 I just bought
a week ago.  Much smoother appearance, where the V2 is grainy.  Its like
getting a new lease on my GPL life.  wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Mike
PS  I have been told that the high fps could mean unrealisticly long lap times,
but so far I havent had a problem.

What prosessor do you have? Which drivers do you use? Do you get those high
FPS  in a race with 19 opponents?

With my PII350, 192 Mb RAM and 3.62 drivers I only manage to get ca 20 fps
at the starting grid.

Same here, I too have a geforce, The voodoo cards do make the graphics
grainy, its like looking at a screen door with the voodoo cards, The geforce
is smooth as silk, And for the anti-asailing part, Nvidia will be releasing
drivers in the spring that will do full scence anti-asailing unlike the
voodoo wich does "edge" only and through software, Geforce opens up a can of
woop arse on the voodoo cards! Bye bye 3dfx :)

I have a lot of processing power.  p3 600 with 256 megs of ram and sblive with
the gforce and voodoo2 cards.  I get 30-33 fps at the start of any race so far,
and as a matter of fact I am going to monaco right now to see what I get there.

The fix was listed just a few days ago on this ng.  it involved going to the
registry and changing a flipping control number.  Nice and easy.

Great, welcome to the club - I've been getting a solid 36 fps on a Voodoo3
3000 at 1280 x 1024 (with my own 3dfx mirror 'fix') for close to nine
months now.

 - George

p.s. BTW GPL is limited to 36 fps, anything above is in error

HAHAHAHAHAHA u r such a dumbass!!!!!!!! No shit your GeForce is better then
your old Voodoo2 it's 2 generations newer and is a total a rip off and not
powerful enough to make a reason why not to get a TNT2 Ultra insted. Why not
compare the new 800mhz Coppermine PIII with the first generation PIIs? We
don't need u to tell us a GeForce is better then a Voodoo2.

The Voodoo 5 does full scene hardware anti-aliasing, with little drop
off in frame rate. Even with edge only software anti-aliasing there is
a significant drop in frame rate, I would imagine that full scene
software anti-aliasing would slow a game to a crawl.

Fill rate is the bottleneck right now in racing sims, and the new
Voodoo cards have double and triple the fill rate of Geforce.
Hopefully future sims will implement the new t-buffer features like
motion blur and depth of field, which will make the Voodoo cards an
even clearer choice for racing.

Geforce has an edge in animation, which shows up well in Quake. But
for those that would rather simulate than frag, Voodoo 5 should be the
better upgrade.

Hey wishkah, take a pill.  Many here would tell you they prefer the voodoo over
geforce because gpl is a 3dfx based game.  Many of us with geforces have been
struggling to find the right combo to get it to work to its capacity.  Bottom
line is we try to help each other here on this newsgroup.
Your an ass.
