from a keyboard connected to the ps/2 port. I have tried two working
keyboards: one is USB with a ps/2 adapter, and another is standard
ps/2. Neither work on ps/2, but the USB is fully functional on USB
port.
If memory serves me (sadly it often is quite selective), the ps/2 port
was working previously. Then I moved everything around and wound up
using the keyboard on USB. But now I NEED my usb port for another
device. So back on ps/2 goes a keyboard. But now it doesn't seem to
work. No lights, dead.
Strangely, the keyboard on ps/2 port is fully functional in BIOS. If
I remove the hardware from XPs device manager and reboot, WinXP finds
the hardware and asks to restart. After restarting, it is there in
device manager, but the keyboard is still dead. XP reports that it is
functioning normally. Typical!
I tried SFC.exe and all that accomplished was getting rid of my nVidia
drivers. I am considering doing a repair installation next. But I am
relatively new at XP and dont know what to expect from this operation,
and so would prefer not to go there unless absolutely necessary.
Please, anybody who has any ideas, let me know!
Thanks,
Gerald
