Indycar racing worth it ?

I'm thinking of buying Indycar Racing, is it worth it ?

I've got F1GP, and in my opinion that will take some beating.....

Any news of a sequel to F1GP ?

Thanks for your help....

You bet! I have erased my copy of F1GP recently, since I haven't touched
it
after I bought ICR 3 months ago. ICR is by far the more demanding game
(hardware and driver dedication), but if you really want a game that is
challenging and realistic, then ICR is for you. You should have a 486DX
with
at least 4, better 8mb of RAM, as well as a fast (Dos Winmark) video
board.
The new add-on packs just released will really need 8mb (one track is
4 miles long and needs room....), but with those the game should be
absolutely
awesome (8 more tracks and some editors for replays and car colors)

If you just race once in a while and want fun the moment you get into the
car, don't bother.

Hi,
I am looking for a FAQ for ICR, does one exist?? If so, where??

Also, would it be possible to UUencode car set-ups and post them
in this news group ?  I have a car that has a lap avg. of 230.1
and would love to see the set up of a car that can go faster! (this
is of course at the Michigan track).

Look at didnt.doit.wisc.edu (anonymous login)

There is the FAQ you are looking for and lots of other things. About
setups: You can go faster than 230 with a default ACE setup if you run
the right engine.

There are  few setups posted in the ftp site (one goes with a replay
showing a 241mph lap at Michigan, done without hacking the horsepower
setting  of the car).  There is a utility called  dmpstg.exe that writes
the .stg files content to a readable ascii file, which is  all that needs
to be distributed.

Also: not  everyone posts setups  - that's half  the fun of ICR....

:       I recently purchased a SB compatible card (8-bit mono) and was really
: pleased to get the sounds in Indycar.  However when I applied the 1.04e patch
: the game now pauses every time I am about to hit a wall etc.  Although this
: would teach me better driving, it is a bit annoying!!  My PC setup is a bit
: bizzare, i.e. external HD with drivers, Stacker drive and 4mb but since
: ther was no problem with the previous version I would like to know if I can
: fix this.....  Thanks in advance,

I've seen this too, intermittently, in 1.04 (no E).  My setup is more
"normal", 25MHz 486SX, SBPro, 12MB RAM, no stacker.  In one session I've
had it not happen on one track, then happen on another.  I haven't
discovered a rhyme or reason to it yet.

I had this problem too. Papyrus just said check the sound card is set
up properly. I did this, but the problem still exists. I think the
problem is caused by memory fragmentation. So that when it needs some
memory to DMA the sound too it takes too long to hunt for some. I have
a 8mb memory machine, but I still get the problem after a few minutes
playing. It seem to occur quicker on the larger tracks.

If anyone know the answer please email me a fix. My sound card is a
sound galaxy nx pro (sb pro 2 compatible).
