Nascar 3DFX patch is a leaked beta
By: Jeremy Allford Date: 17-03-98 18:36 EST Category: Game

Tim sent word that the Nascar 2 patch going around in actually a
non-supported release that was not supposed to be on the internet. He
did say that the real patch from Sierra would be out later this week,
hopefully it solves some of the problems that people are having with
the beta patch.
Straight from Dave Matson of Papyrus:
"The N2 3dfx beta is official. It was released yesterday to
www.gamecenter.com, and the other sites presumably picked it from there.
There also should be a press release, but I don't think gamecenter has
put it online yet."

Very Interesting. If you look at the Sierra web site tech forum for
support (It locks up my machine in both dos and win95 ), they say it
is an unofficial beta and is not supported., Somebody better get
their head ouf of their butt. The worst thing that ever happened to
Papyrus was them being sold to incompetent Ken William's comapny. Of
course the principals of Papy who got the big bucks would disagree....
Anybody got there's working with a pure3d? (and yes I read the readme
and put the the proper file in the Nascar2 directory).

It works beautifully with my Pure3D. The only problem I have detected is
the blurry appearance of certain track-side graphics, but that is mentioned
as a known issue in the readme so I hope it will be corrected by the time
the final version is out.

I made a mistake. It's not a dll file you need to put in the Nascar2
directory. It's the glide2x.ovl file you need to put there. N23DFX
wouldn't run under dos until I did this on my Monster3D.
