Same thing here.  Thought I'd drop by and find a solution.   Jan??

Tonight there's a new .zip file on The Pits for the version 1.01
update and it works.  BUT, it's supposed to fix a problem with the
mirror and now the mirror is "see-through".  The rear view is below
the mirror.

This could be your problem. From The Pits news page:

"NOTE If you have used any of the 'directory' tools out on the 'net to

NASCAR, this patch WILL NOT WORK! You'll have to move everything back
to patch it."

There's something buggy with the .EXE file they have posted.  I can't get it to
run either, nor could a friend I had download and try it.  Neither one of us has

one that won't run.  I assume this is a self-extracting archive.

Is there an alternate site that has an earlier version that extracts, or can

extracts?  I'm wanting to run an offline series based on this patch if its as
good as it looks, but so far I'm underwhelmed with the self-extracting archive
choice.

and apparently can't seem to bring themselves to make a zip file, but they did set
me on the track to a solution:

 20 Aug - Note for Win32 errors...
The author of our setup program we use emailed me back about the
errors...he's never heard of anyone having these errors, and I know many people have
downloaded it without any problems. However, he mentioned that this error is common
with corrupted files. So, my guess is that some of you are having your download cut
short, therefore having problems with the file. Two ways to fix that...first, go to
Getright, and get right! This program will make sure that your downloads do not get
corrupted, and if the transfer fails in the middle, it will restart the transfer to
make sure it comes out ok. Second, when you download, compare your file (right click
on the file, go to "properties") and check to make sure that your file sizes compare

Here's what I found out.  The problem seems to be connected with Netscape
downloading the .EXE file.  Any time I downloaded the file with Netscape it was
2189699 bytes, *larger* than the actual file.  When I tried downloading it with
Internet Explorer it came down fine, and in the right size.  I've never had problems
with Netscape downloading .EXE files before, but there's always a first time.

So if you're having troubles, use Internet Explorer to download the file, or fill
ThePits' inbox with mail until they put up a zip file :)
