I was wondering :
I'm a not a bad GPL-driver, not a bad F12001-driver, not a bad F12002-driver
but yet I S*CK at FIA GT V3.
Is this only me ?
What car is good to begin with ?
Is 100% AI-strength realistic ?
Thanx in advance all

I was ace in version 1, couldnt stand version 2, and found V3 to be about
1.8 in terms of where I'd put it compared to the previous versions.
Somehow it just lost the fun after V1 for me. An awesome effort though.

Which cars are you driving? The Diablows seems to be the car of choice
for overall speed and drivability. The Viper is probably the fastest but
is difficult to keep turning without spinning. The Porche is fairly docile
and the Ferrari 550 has turned in some very good times...
Start with their base setup and decrease the differential lock one or two
clicks.
HERE IS THE BIGGIE THO...
You really have to tweek the joystick settings to get smooth driving.
Haqsau and Fatnslo came up with some very good settings for a wheel.
btw...what setup do you have??
try the following.
set all your axis sensitivity sliders to 50%
turn off all speed-steering help
lower the steering lock in ALL your setups to about 12 degrees. (Monaco will
likely need more)
TURN OFF TIRE WEAR TURN OFF TIRE WEAR TURN OFF TIRE WEAR.
(there is a bug in F1 2k1 that causes a lot of problems if you heat up your
tires. So if you drive too deep into a corner, and skid slowing down, your
tires will be junk for the next several corners, and most likely you will
spin shortly)<this has been fixed in f1 2k2>
lemme know if you need any more ideas..

V3 is a big improvment. The only bad thing is the bumps, the car gets pretty
uncontrollable over them but last night in the porsche i ran a race at
sepang and had 20 spin free laps running in 2nd place doing high 2:01 to mid
2:02's consistantly.
Running 100% AI is realistic too, some tracks they are way too slow, like A1
and nurburg, where even in the porsche i can qualify 1-2secs infront of 2nd
place.
The biggest thing with V3 is to have very little if any wheelspin. I also
drop the diff lock to the lowest setting that wont give me massive 1 wheel
burnouts out of turns.... it just helps if u get a lot of wheelspin, instead
of the car spinning around it gives the outside wheel a bit of grip. Good
luck, its great.

Are there any tutorials for car model and physics editing in F1 2002
anywhere? I've been kicking around the idea of taking the best non-F1
addon tracks and creating some fictional open wheel and closed wheel
series for them.
Jason
I'll try that Differential lock trick for myself!
I never was too good at GPL but I still think it is THE sim.
But I must say that these MODs (FIA being the best so far and ALMS coming
close behind - to my taste) certainly come close to the experience felt in
GPL.
I never tried Version 1 (Fia) though?
I stick with the 550 Ferrari, the Diablo his easier to handle a bit, Vipers
and Porsches oversteer ( with basic settings) to much to my taste.
Running N-GT I only tried the 996, I was told that the 360 Ferrari was the
worst car of the lot so never gave it any time.
I have mixed feelings about version 4, I am sure it will be an improvement
but, MP support is said to be worse with F1 2002. If so, I wish that most
players will want to stick to 2001! I'd rather race against 6-7 players in
V3 then 2-3 in V4...
It's a shame that we can't get more in like we can in GPL or N2002, or at
least let us fill the field with some AI drivers (does this work in F1 2002?
never tried it, was told it did?).
Denis
I'm driving a porsche, using the Porsche V3-setup, i use a Momo and all help
is off (except for the tyre wear, which was mentioned here and is off now)
I'm pretty surprised that you can qual 1st with the porsche at the A1-ring !
That's where I'm struggling as a matter of fact.
hehe, it MUST be me then ...
Thanx all

V4 will be very nice...(*rumour* is it going to be a commercial EA Sports
F12002 Addon?)
I've been dissappointed with the number of people who've posted times on
FIAGT rank. I was ranked #7 last time I looked, so that should give an
indication how few people have bothered with it....

Is it possible for simbin to do world recording tracking on
http://www.simbin.com/the_best/ instead of using the F1 2002 EA
servers? Most people posting lap times on the official site are using
a lot of driving aids like.
