GPL and glide2x.dll

Hello, I am all of a sudden having a problem with GPL not loading. When I
click on gpl.exe it tells me that it can't open the program because
glide2x.dll is not present. I d/l'd said file and put it in the gpl folder
with no joy. I run Win XP Pro and I have never had a problem with GPL
before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I hope this isn't a DUMB question but.....
Do you have a 3dfx video card?   If not you have chosen the 3dfx 3d mode in
gpl and that won't work with anything BUT a 3dfx card.  That is why the
program is calling for the glide2x.dll file, trouble is, once it finds it,
the program doesn't know what to do with it.(only a 3dfx based system would)
try the software mode then dload and install the d3d patch if you haven't
yet.
let us know the parts of your system too..
OS, video card etc
good luck

Hey Dave, thanks for the reply. I have an GeForce 2 Ultra,Win XP Pro,
homemade, Asus P4T, P4, 1.5 Mhz, 512 Mgs RRam. I just installed the 40.41
drivers from Nvidia and presto, it works again. Go figure. I was running the
30.82's before.
I have a new question, how do I know what the refresh rate is while I'm
running GPL? I have heard that if you use Nvidia drivers, the refresh rate
will default to 60hz. I have tried the NVrefresh tool and found it to be not
so effective. Any ideas? I'm going to try multi-res from Powerstrip. Thanks
again.

I just push the setup button on my monitor to get the resolution & refresh
rate info. I believe most modern monitors show thin info on the OSD.

BTW, the multi-monitor thingy in the nVidia drivers (40.41 & 30.82) caused a
"cannot find redline.dll" error. Redline.dll is a rendition file & it's
possible that it's related to your 3dfx file not found problem. Had you
enabled the multi-monitor tools?

Thanks Malc, yes my monitor does tell me what the refresh rate is. D'oh! I
reinstalled NVRefresh tool and it's working well now. It turns out that the
default setting for my Viewsonic G90f is 144hz at 800x600. It looks great!
I'm sticking with the 40.41 drivers too. Thanks again, oh BTW, I did not
have the multi monitor thing turned on with either driver.
