I just ran Norton Antivirus 4.0 using the February definition. It
found a file called taladega1.exe that contained the AOL Tojan 873
virus. Not truly a virus but a tojan horse. According to Noroton,
the program may try to corrupt some files and then try and rip out
info from your AOL account (not that I have one).
The history on Taladega1.exe. I believe I downloaded the file from a
legit N2 web site. Sorry I cannot remember which one. However I did
notice that I did have other files called Taladega2.exe and
Taladega3.exe. So I probably downloaded the file from a website that
may have posted 3 setups for Taladega. Taladega2.exe only has one
setup file, so I would assume the same may have been true for
Taladega1.exe. Unfortunately this is all the info. I can provide.
One note for the setting for your Norton Scanner, make sure to scan
within all Compressed files, and all files, not just program files.
Also get the latest virus defintion set, becuase the last one I used
Jan, for some reason did not pick this one up. Other than that, its
just a matter of losing the setup file.
Hope this helps. Now guess I should have always kept Noroton running
in the background.
