by Greg Schar » Sun, 18 Jan 1998 04:00:00

I just downloaded the F1RS demo and I'm having a few problems with
it.......

1. How or Can you use a TM GP1 Wheel with it.

2. Does anybody have the readme files in English because I don't speak
french.

Thanks

GP1 works fine.  Define it as a T2 with adapter, or as a joystick, or
create your own configuration in Game Controllers.  Definition as a T2
gives the least free play and most linear steering; calling it a
joystick gives a big dead zone but may work better for you.

Next run F1RS and go to the Controls sheet of the Configuration.  You
can select which axis to use for brake, and which for throttle.  For the
GP1, it will be Joystick A, Y axle [sic].  If you click on the little
round button near the bottom, you get sliders where you can set steering
sensitivity, which seems to adjust the size of the null zone.

BTW, if anyone knows what the "Steering Limit" button does, please let
me know!

Below is the readme file from the British full release.  Pretty scanty.
Note that the demo is 3Dfx only, and neither full nor demo versions work
properly on Voodoo Rush cards.

3D CARDS

F1Racing Simulation is configured for all cards supporting Direct 3D and
native support for 3DFX.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

Voodoo Note:
F1Racing Simulation requires at least the Glide 2.43 drive. If you
haven't got this on your machine, it's possible to install the latest
version by running the following program - grtvgr.exe which is located
in the 3DFX folder on the F1Racing Simulation CD.

Untimely disconnection while in multi-player mode:
If you do not have the full installation on your PC, then it may be that
your CD ROM drive or hard drive is too slow.

MISCELLANEUOS

If in the "Regulations" option you have chosen to limit the number of
tyres to 28 per week-end, then each tyre is managed independently of one
another. Therefore sometimes you may have to use a set of tyres which is
made up of tyres that have been used already. As you remove the tyres
from your car, the used tyre stock is automatically updated. New sets of
tyres are made up depending on the worn state. The cracked or worn out
tyres are put with those tyres that are the most used ones. During the
race, if one tyre is worn out and needs changing, you have to change the
whole set.

You are able to adjust the car's handling by altering the sensitivity of
the steering and pedals in the cars' configuration pages, once done
click on the icon with the icon shape. You can then access the
configuration page to change these sensitivities.

By touching "0" on the keyboard returns you to the car.

Certain applications, like the start bar for Windows may interfere with
the menu

Even better:  go to thrustmaster's website and download their propanel
software.  When you install it, it adds definitions for several
thrustmaster products (including the GP1) to Win95.  Then you just go to
the joystick control panel and select the GP1.  This works very nicely
with the F1RS demo and all other Win95 driving games I've tried.
